Ceropegia Variegata Chain of Hearts 200mm Hanging
One of the most iconic and instagramable hanging plants, the string of hearts features long trailing stems with heart shaped leaves. The leaves are small, firm and thick, and are green with silver mottling and have a stunning mauve purple back. They are the most stunning in hanging pots, and defiantely one for houseplant enthousiasts, succulent collectors and general plant lovers.
Care Level - Easy. Set and forget is what we say for these guys. Fine a good spot, and leave them there, without any fuss. The String of hearts don’t need much tending to, so set these babies up and watch them thrive.
Light - String Of hearts like full or partial sun, so close to a window is perfect. Afternoon sun in summer can be a bit hot, so filtered sun in summer is best.
Water - The easiest way to kill your String Of Hearts is overwatering especially in winter. Too much water will increase the chance of root rot, so only water around once a month during winter, and in warmer months about every 1-2 weeks.
Propagation - The string of hearts can propagate easily from stem cuttings in water. You can snip the stem just behind a pair of leaves and put that end in water to grow roots. Once roots are grown, pot up into soil. You can also allow trailing stems to sit onto soil and naturally grow roots, before snipping away from the mother plant and potting separately.
Soil - String of Hearts prefers a well draining soil, such as a succulent and cactus mix. You can improve drainage in potting mix by adding sand or perlite to your soil. With very shallow roots, you don’t need very large pots and most are grown in shallow but wide pots. Repotting is not required very often, so allow your plant to do it’s thing and just grow.
Pets - The String Of Hearts is non toxic so very pet friendly.
PLEASE NOTE: While we try to show photos of an average plant for this plant and pot size, as every plant is a living thing, plants will be slightly different in some way to the image shown.
