Hoya Pubicalyx Silver 130mm
Hoya are thick leaf climbers that not only offers stunning foliage and vines, but under the right conditions, plants flower a incredible cluster of tiny wax like flowers, hence the plant is often called wax plant or wax flower. The flowers only appear on mature plants, so it could be a number of years before you see a bloom, however the foliage is still a total win. The Hoya Pubicalyx Silver has lovely silver speckles on it's leaves, and bright pink flowers on it's blooms.
Care Level - Easy. As long as your hoya is recieving plenty of indirect light, they don't require much maintenance or regular watering. They do like a bit of humidity, so group with other plants, and cold keep away from drafty spots in winter.
Light - Hoya thrive in bright indirect light so for the best growth. Too much hot sun, such as western sun in the hottest months can lead to leaf burn, and not enough light will lead to plants being weak and leggy.
Water - Allow the soil to dry out between waterings. Hoya don't need regular watering, however water well and allow the water to drain well, ensuring the pot isn't sitting in water.
Food - In warmer growing months, give a quality liquid fertiliser monthly for the best growth, but hold off during winter.
Propagation - Hoya is fairly easy to propagate, but can be on the slow side. You can cut the stem either side of a leaf keeping the node, and sit the stem in water to grow roots in a well lit spot. Once the roots have grown a bit, the rooted cuttings can be potted up into soil to continue to grow. Best to prop in warmer months for best results.
Soil - Hoya love a well draining soil, thats light, chunky but still retails moisture. Some are grown in coco chip, however a blend of succulent potting mix, orchid bark and perlite if a popular blend. Hoya enjoy being a bit root bound, so only repot every few years.
Pets - The Hoya is considered non toxic to pets and humans, so safe for your fur babies.
