Monstera Deliciosa 200mm
The Monstera Deliciosa is the first house plant many of us fall in love with! An easy care indoor plant, but with so much potential to be such a statement in our homes. The big glossy leaves have those stunning fenestrations and the in the right conditions, growth can be fast. These guys can get big, especially if supported with a stake or totem. Though easy to look after, it is still a staple in every plant lovers home! Also known as the Fruit Salad plant, baby plants may have solid leaves. Mature leaves have the most fenestrations, but in our opinion, both the adult and young leaves are stunning.
Care Level - Easy. The Monstera is a pretty tough plant, so if your new to the indoor plant world, this is one of our best recomendations!
Light - The Monstera Deliciosa is a jungle climber, so liked filtered light or bright indirect light. The leaves are generally strong enough for some direct sun, but be mindful of hot summer afternoon sun burning your leaves.
Water - This guy doesnt mind drying out between watering, but we recomend watering when the top few inches of soil is dry.
Food - In warmer growing months, give a quality liquid fertiliser monthly for the best growth, but hold off during winter.
Propagation - The Monstera Deliciosa is easy to propagate from cuttings. You can cut the stem, keeping a node, and sit the stem in water or damp perlite to grow roots in a well lit spot. Once the roots have grown a bit, the rooted cuttings can be potted up into soil to continue to grow. Best to prop in warmer months, as winter growth is very slow.
Soil - The Monstera Deliciosa likes a well draining soil, thats light, airy but still retails moisture. Potting mix with coco peat is great, and some perlite will assist in drainage.
Pets - Monsteras are toxic if eaten, so keep this one away from your fur babies if they are prone to eating your plants.
